Our mission is to improve the educational outcomes and sense of belonging of students of the African diaspora at Mt. SAC by providing holistic support, cultural enrichment, and community empowerment.

      • The Center for Black Culture and Student Success (CBCSS) is located on the ground floor of the Learning Technology Center (Library). The Center is accessible through the south entrance of the building, which faces the Southwest and Southeast lawns and the Rose Garden.

      Fall Semester
      Monday-Thursday 8:00-6:00pm
      Friday 8:00-4:00pm 

      Winter Intersession
      Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:30pm
      Friday 8:00-4:00pm 

      Spring Semester

      Monday-Thursday 8:00-6:00pm
      Friday 8:00-4:00pm 

      Summer Intersession

Programs & Events

Umoja Community
Umoja Community, is a statewide academic support program designed to enhance the cultural and educational experiences of Black/African American students. The program offers culturally responsive courses, workshops, academic counseling, and a strong network of academic, personal, and professional support.

A2MEND
The African American Male Education Network & Development (A2MEND) is a nationwide organization dedicated to advancing the success of Black/African American male students through mentorship, leadership development, community building, and culturally responsive support.

Signature Events
CBCSS hosts signature events throughout the year that celebrate Black culture, foster community, and promote student leadership and academic success. These programs provide meaningful opportunities for students to connect, engage, and build a strong sense of belonging on campus.
