What is . . . ?

    • Accreditation

      Accreditation is both a process and a status. As a process, it ensures that institutions of higher education meet standards of quality and provide educational programs, services, credentials, and credits that students and the community can trust. The process also verifies that institutions have the resources and infrastructure to sustain and improve the quality of their educational offerings and services.

      As a result of a successful accreditation process, institutions gain an accredited status that qualifies them for federal grants and contracts, enables them to distribute federal financial aid, and ensures that their students can transfer credits to another accredited institution. Many employers also require credentials from accredited institutions as a condition of employment. Ultimately, an accredited status signifies that an institution meets expectations for educational quality, sound institutional practice, and resources for students鈥� success.

    • ISER

      An Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) is submitted to Mt. SAC鈥檚 accrediting body, the ACCJC, for the purpose of assisting in the determination of our accreditation status. The ISER evaluates our alignment to ACCJC鈥檚 requirements and standards.

    • Annual Report

      Annual accreditation reports are submitted to the ACCJC to demonstrate continued effort and data-based evidence of progress towards our goals related to accreditation, continuous improvement of education quality, and institutional effectiveness.

    • Standards

      ACCJC Accreditation Standards are statements of good practice that reflect expectations for educational quality and institutional effectiveness. They are the basis for comprehensive institutional evaluations by ACCJC for reaffirmation of accreditation.

    • Accreditation Steering Committee

      The Accreditation Steering Committee serves as ambassadors to Mt. SAC in engaging campus constituencies in the processes of accreditation.  The Committee collaboratively guides College progress and the self-reflection processes for accreditation.
