This certificate prepares students for entry-level positions within the field of child development. Students will聽learn about the principles and theories of child development from prenatal to school age. Topics also include聽pregnancy to prenatal development, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children from聽infancy to school age, protecting children's health and safety, positive guidance and discipline, teaching聽through play, child abuse and neglect, and careers and career pathways in child development. Course serves聽as preparation for high school students, adult re-entry students, or general student population seeking entry-level聽employment in child development. Upon completion of this program, students will earn a Certificate of聽Completion in Child Development.

- Students will be employed or seek employment in the field or a related field.
