The Wildland Fire Technology Certificate聽is聽designed聽鈥媐or聽students鈥� who 鈥媤ant 鈥媡o 鈥媑ain 鈥媍ertification 鈥媋s 鈥媋 鈥媤ildland鈥� firefighter鈥� through 鈥媡he鈥� National鈥� Wildland Coordinating Group (NWCG). The Wildland Fire Technology Certificate provides training in hand crew formation, Fireline鈥� construction,鈥� and鈥� the 鈥媢se鈥� of鈥� wildland 鈥媐ire 鈥媏quipment. 鈥婼tudents learn about wildland fire crews (engine crews, hand crews, hotshot crews, helitak crews, and smokejumpers), wildland fire behavior, wildland fire fighter personal protective 鈥媏quipment, wildland聽firefighter safety, helicopter safety, dozer 鈥媠afety, wildland fire 鈥媝umps, and wildland聽fire聽tools聽and聽firing聽devices. The Wildland Fire Technology Certificate聽includes聽arduous聽physical conditioning聽including聽hiking聽with聽up聽to聽45 鈥媝ounds聽of聽weight聽and聽other聽strenuous聽outdoor聽activities. The聽academy聽exceeds聽the聽United聽States聽Forest聽Service (USFS)聽minimum 鈥媡raining聽requirements聽for聽an 鈥媏ntry-level聽wildland聽firefighter聽for聽certification聽purposes.
