Student plays virtual reality game鈥淭here is great anticipation, thrill, and raw fear in that first interaction with the public,鈥 said Sunil Thankamushy, professor of Animation & Gaming. 鈥淵ou learn a lot about yourself as a storyteller and game developer in that process. It almost always boosts your confidence. It鈥檚 an integral part of your development.鈥

Students play video gamesIt may see like just a fun and games major, but in California, video games are a huge industry with 900 video game companies and 33,000 employees in the Golden State.

鈥淭here is a very rewarding and satisfying career in the animation and game industries of Southern California for students with the right education, portfolio, and attitude,鈥 said Thankamushy, noting that any job search engine will display numerous openings for entry-level positions in Southern California. Many of the world鈥檚 largest game development companies are based in the LA basin, known as 鈥淪ilicon Beach鈥.
