Take a Career Assessment
Road Trip Nation hit the road to get advice from people who'd found fulfilling work. They made video interviews with people from all kinds of industries. Their wisdom taught us there's no "right" way to build a career鈥攖hat there were actually endless unique paths we could take forward. This website includes those videos and many other great career exploration tools.
This website has multiple types of career assessments including a skill assessment that can help you find potential jobs based on what you do well, or could learn to do well. It also has a career database you can search to learn more about potential careers. To use this website you need to sign-in using the Mt. SAC site ID. Meet with a Counselor
Take a Career Exploration Course or Workshop
Taking a career exploration course gives you a chance to take multiple career assessments and helps you understand how to use them to choose a good career for you. Students appreciate the structure of a course in going through the career exploration process. They also appreciate that they are able to earn units towards their educational goal.
3 units, (Degree Applicable, CSU) Meets Category E general education requirement for CSU
GE pattern and Mt. SAC AA/AS GE pattern
Description: A systematic approach to self-exploration related to the career and life
planning process, including identification of values, interests, skills, and self-management
style. Develop decision making and goal setting skills and identify barriers to success.
Explores and evaluates careers and job search techniques.
1 unit (Degree Applicable, CSU) Elective credit for associates degree or transfer to a CSU
Description: Introductory career planning course designed for students who want assistance
in making informed career decisions. A variety of assessments, inventories, and computer-generated
information will be used to help students explore careers and majors.
This is an in-person workshop with a counselor and a small group of students. We will be using a career assessment to help you identify a major goal that is a good fit for you.
