SB792 Immunization Requirement


Students must provide documentation of Influenza shot, (Tdap) pertussis and measles immunization, as well as TB clearance, as required by SB792 before being permitted to register for the following Child Development classes:

  • CHLD 66L - Early Childhood Development Observation and Assessment Laboratory
  • CHLD 67L - Early Childhood Education Practicum Laboratory
  • CHLD 87 - Infant/Toddler Practicum Field Work
  • CHLD 91 - Early Childhood Development Field Work

Student will be blocked from registering from the above classes if their proof of immunization is not on record with the Child Development Center.

Note: If you already submitted your immunization checklist to the Child Development Center (CDC) you do not need to resubmit them again.


How to Submit Immunization Records

    • 1Step 1 - Download Immunization Checklist

      Download the Child Development Course Clearance (immunization) check-list. If you wish to decline the Influenza vaccine, also download the Influenza Declination Form.

    • 2Step 2 -Complete the Immunization Checklist

      Take the checklist with your immunization documents to the Mt. SAC Health Center in Bldg. 67B (or satellite location 9E Student Success Center) to be reviewed and signed off on OR you may take the checklist to your own healthcare provider to be completed, signed, and stamped.

      If you do not have your own healthcare provider, the LA County Health Department has a list of no-cost and low-cost immunization providers:

      Note:  offers some of the immunization for a low cost to students enrolled in the current term. For more information, please contact the Mt. SAC Health Center at (909) 274 - 4400.  
    • 3Step 3 - Make a Copy

      Make a copy of your signed completed and signed checklist for your own record as the original will be retained by the Child Development Center.  

    • 4Step 4 - Submit the Immunization Checklist

      Please submit and upload your completed immunization check-list AND a copy of your immunization record to our Immunization Smartsheet.

      Once students accurately submit required documentation, it may take up to 48 hours (excluding holidays and weekends) before they are cleared to register. No notification of clearance is provided.

 

 Frequently Asked Questions

    • When should I submit my immunization?
      As soon as possible! You can upload your immunization records any time. To avoid delays in your registration for classes that require immunization, please submit your check-list  as soon as possible. We recommend at least one full semester prior to the start of the class. This will ensure that you are eligible to register for the class once you pass the pre-requisite.  Your goal should to become eligible to register before your priority registration date. 
    • What if I do not have all of my immunization?
      No problem! You can either get the immunization through the your own health care provider, or one of the low cost provides on the ,  or the Mt. SAC Health Center (for students enrolled in the current term).
    • What if I have the immunization, but not my records?
      You may be able to complete a titers test to determine whether you possess the antibodies for some the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.
    • How much will it cost to get the immunization if I do not currently have them?

      Prices will vary from provider to provider. Please call your primary health care provider directly to inquire about the cost, or call one of the providers on the

      The Mt. SAC Health Center prices for this vaccines are as follows:

      • TB $15.00
      • Tdap $48.00
      • Flu $20.00
      • Titer Testing for Antibodies $37 (MMR: Measles $10, Mumps $18, Rubella $9) 

      The Health Center no longer offers MMR vaccines. 
      Check with your health care provider as you may be able to receive some or all of these immunizations for free.

    • Can I refuse to get immunization?

      Yes, of course! We respect your privacy and we cannot force you to disclose any information you do not wish to. However, due to the new health regulation, the Child Development Center (CDC) is required to ensure that anyone who comes into contact with the children at the CDC and interacts with them provides proof of immunization. Therefore, you will not be eligible to register for the following classes since it would compromise the CDC's legislated mandate:

      • CHLD 66L - Early Childhood Development Observation and Assessment Laboratory
      • CHLD 67L - Early Childhood Education Practicum Laboratory
      • CHLD 87 - Infant/Toddler Practicum Field Work
      • CHLD 91 - Early Childhood Development Field Work
    • My medical records are confidential. Can I refuse to provide proof of immunization?

      Yes, of course! We respect your privacy and we cannot force you to disclose any information you do not wish to. However, due to the new health regulation, the Child Development Center (CDC) is required to ensure that anyone who comes into contact with the children at the CDC and interacts with them provides proof of immunization. Therefore, you will not be eligible to register for the following classes since it would compromise the CDC's legislated mandate:

      • CHLD 66L - Early Childhood Development Observation and Assessment Laboratory
      • CHLD 67L - Early Childhood Education Practicum Laboratory
      • CHLD 86 Infant/Toddler Practicum Field Experience
      • CHLD 91 - Early Childhood Development Field Work
    • What if I have a medical condition that prevents me from getting some of the immunization? Can I be exempt from the immunization requirement?
      Unfortunately not! While SB792 provides some exemptions for employees and volunteers; the Mt. SAC Child Development Center has adopted stricter health requirements to ensure safety and well-being of the children who attend Child Development Center.
    • What if my immunization record was already submitted to the CDC?
      If you already submitted your immunization checklist to the Child Development Center (CDC) you do not need to resubmit them again.
